Battleford

Hardiness / Use: Very hardy (up to Zone 2, according to sources).

Description: Medium to large apple, yellow-green background with red stripes. Flesh is white to light yellow, rather coarse in texture, with a slightly tart flavor.

Use: Good for both fresh eating and cooking (best for cooking). Medium storage life (around 1 month).

Notes: An excellent choice for testing an ultra-hardy variety in Zone 5.
